Curt’s Famous Meats Wins Praise at American Royal Barbeque
Independence, MO: Curt’s Famous Meats continued its tradition of excellence at the 29th Annual American Royal Barbeque hosted October 2-5, 2008 in Kansas City’s Stockyard district providing meat to nearly a dozen competitors. The prestigious barbeque expo and contest is the largest open competition in the world, attracting more than 500 barbeque teams.
Curt’s Famous Meats provided meats to two winners of this year’s Invitational competition, limited to select teams from across the nation. “BBQ Brethern” from Ft. Worth, TX and New York, NY placed 13th in the chicken category while “Black Tie” from Philadelphia, PA placed 19th overall. Curt’s is a five-time past award winner of the American Royal Barbeque, earning honors in 1989, 1992, 1994, 1997 and 2004.
Fresh off its victory at the American Royal, the team of “BBQ Brethern” will take cuts from Curt’s Famous Meats to the 20th Annual World Championship Jack Daniels Invitational Barbeque in Lynchburg, TN on Friday, October 24th. The Jack Daniels Invitational selects only 100 teams to its judged competition each year. Competing teams are required to have won at least one previous Grand Championship in a qualifying competition.
